Neven Zarkovic

Neven Zarkovic is currently a Senior Scientist and Head of the Laboratory for Oxidative Stress at the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zargreb, Croatia. He obtained his MD in 1984 from the Medical Faculty, Zagreb University, and following his PhD undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Graz. His research focuses on lipid peroxidation and the role of 4-hydroxynonenal in cell behaviour and disease pathology, and he has many collaborations in this field. He was a founding member of the International HNE-Club and has been a member of the Steering Committee since its inception. Prof Zarkovic was the co-ordinator of the European COST Action B35 on Lipid Peroxidation Associated Disorders, and is currently on the management committee of the COST Action CM1001 on Chemistry of non-enzymatic protein modification.
