Helmut Sies, M.D., Ph.D.(hon), M.D.(hon), F.R.C.P., studied Medicine at the Universities of Tubingen, Paris and Munich. He was Full Professor and Chairman at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I at Heinrich-Heine-University Dusseldorf, Germany, where he now is a Research Professor. He is Member of the German National Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina) and was President of the NRW Academy of Sciences and Arts.
He is Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles, and a Professor of Biology and Biochemistry at the College of Sciences, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is Vice-President of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureates Meetings.
Research interests include Oxidative Stress, Oxidants and Antioxidants, Glutathione, Micronutrients (Polyphenols, Selenium, Carotenoids); Aging Process, Vascular Responses, Nutritional Biochemistry.
