Dr Struti Shiva

Dr. Shiva received her PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2004. She did her post-doctoral training at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NIH) studying the effects of nitrite on mitochondrial function. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology & Chemical Biology and a member of the Vascular Medicine Institute at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Shiva’s research focuses on determining the mechanisms by which reactive nitrogen species modulate mitochondrial function to mediate cellular adaptation in physiological and pathological hypoxia/ischemia.
