Shlomo Sasson is a Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he is based in the Institute of Drug Research at the Faculty of Medicine. His doctorate was in biochemistry and since then all his research has been in the biomedical field. Prof Sasson’s expertise is in diabetes and its complications, with a particular focus on redox regulated cell signalling pathways that affect vascular endothelial and smooth muscle cells. Recently he has published exciting research on PPAR-δ dependent signalling by lipid peroxidation breakdown products. He has extensive collaborations in Europe and is currently participating in the COST Action CM1001 on Chemistry of non-enzymatic protein modification.
