Henrik E. Poulsen

Henrik E. PoulsenHenrik E. Poulsen obtained his Medical Doctorate (1976) and Doctoral Thesis (1986) from the University of Copenhagen. He subsequently was appointed as a Research Fellow (1978-1985) and then Intern (1985-1986) in the Department of Hepatology, Rigshospitatlet, Univeristy Hospital Copenhagen.  He is currently a certified medical specialist in clinical pharmacology and Professor and consultant in clinical pharmacology in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark.  He was President of the Society for Free Radical Research Europe (2009-2011), served on the board of SFRR-Europe and a member of the Editorial Board of five international journals.

His research interests include pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacogenetics, oxidative stress with focus on oxidative changes in nucleic acids in humans in vivo, disease focus hemochromatosis and diabetes. He was an initiator of and served on the Steering Committe of the EU-program ESCODD (measurement of oxidative DNA changes, standardization in 28 labs in Europe, Japan) and is a member of the Steering Committee of ESCULA (measuring oxidative lesions excreted into urine) which involves more than 30 laboratories in EU, Japan and USA.
