Hiroshi MASUTANI graduated from Department of Medicine, Kyoto University, Japan, in 1985 and obtained his PhD (1993) from Kyoto University. He is Associate Professor of Institute for Virus Research, Kyoto University, Japan. He is a member of the SFRR-Japan.
He has studied the regulation of the thioredoxin gene expression in response to oxidative stress and the role of thioredoxin in signaling. His recent research interests extend to thioredoxin binding protein-2 (TBP-2)/ Txnip/ VDUP1 and alpha arrestin family proteins in the regulation of biostress signaling, especially focusing on energy metabolism and cancer suppression.
