Wolfgang Maret PhD received his master’s (diploma) degree from Saarland University, Germany. His postdoctoral years in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The University of Chicago were followed by appointment as assistant professor in the Center for Biochemical and Biophysical Sciences and Medicine at Harvard Medical School and associate professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health at The University of Texas Medical Branch. He is now holding a position as senior lecturer in the Diabetes and Nutritional Sciences Division, School of Medicine, King’s College London. His research interests are in the area of the molecular and cellular control of metal ion homeostasis, sulphur and selenium redox chemistry, structure and function of metalloenzymes, and functions of micronutrients in chronic and degenerative diseases.
