Xingen Lei

Xingen Lei received his Ph.D. in mineral nutrition from Michigan State University, and now is a Full Professor of Molecular Nutrition at Cornell University. He is an active researcher in the field of antioxidants and diabetes. Using the genetically-altered mouse models, his group has revealed in vivo dual roles and molecular mechanisms of glutathione peroxidase and Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase in oxidative stress, drug toxicity, and pathogenesis of diabetes. His NIH-funded research has enabled him to publish in highly ranked journals such as PNAS and to receive a number of prestigious awards and honors. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Nutrition and was the Chair of the 14^th international conference on Trace Elements in Man and Animals (TEMA-14) held in 2011, Enshi, Hubei, China.
