Malcolm Jackson is Professor and Head of the Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease at the University of Liverpool and current President of the Society for Free Radical Research International. He was originally trained as a Biochemist with a PhD degree from University College, London and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. He serves on the Population and Systems Medicine Board of the UK Medical Research Council and is a member of the Healthy Organism Strategy Panel for the UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. Editorial boards include Aging Cell and Free Radical Research.
His major research interests are in the role of redox processes in skeletal muscle physiology and pathology, with a particular emphasis on age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass and function.
