Dr Guy C. Brown is a Reader in Cellular Biochemistry in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge. He received his Ph.D. from Cambridge in 1986, and continued in Cambridge with a College Research Fellowship from St Catharine's College. He then held a Royal Society Research Fellowship at University College London for 5 years before returning to Cambridge in 1994.
He has published over 150 scientific papers, and several books, including: ‘Mitochondria & Cell Death’, ‘The Energy of Life’ and ‘The Living End: The future of death, aging and immortality’. Current research interests include: i) mitochondria, ii) nitric oxide, iii) reactive oxygen species, iv) cell death, v) microglia, vi) inflammation, and (vii) mechanisms of inflammatory neurodegeneration in the brain. He is currently on the board of the ‘Mitochondrial Physiology Society’ and an editor of the journal ‘Nitric Oxide’.
