Wataru Aoi is Assistant Professor of Laboratory of Health Science, Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Kyoto Prefectural University and Visiting Lecturer of Department of Molecular Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Japan. M.S. in Sports Science at University of Tsukuba, Ph.D. in Physiology at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Certified Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Registered Dietician.
His research interests focus on the role of oxidative stress in physical exercise for competitive sports performance and health promotion. In this relation, main research lines are: i) energy metabolism regulation by oxidative modification of metabolic-related proteins; ii) muscle damage and atrophy associated with redox-sensitive signaling; iii) preventive effect of exercise on digestive diseases; iv) antioxidant supplementation in sport scene. He was awarded New Investigator Award in American College of Sports Medicine and Young Investigator Award in Japanese Society of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine.
