Roland Stocker is the Head of the Vascular Biology Division at the Victor
Chang Cardiac Research Institute, Sydney and obtained his PhD degree in
Biochemistry from the Australian National University in Canberra. He is
also a Senior Principal Research Fellow of the National Health & Medical
Research Council of Australia. He has served as President of the Society
for Free Radical Research Australasia, and was the Secretary of the 1994
Biennial Meeting of the International Society for Free Radical Research.
He has served or currently serves a member of the Editorial Board of all
journals dedicated to free radical research, the Executive Committee of
the International Coenzyme Q10 Association, and the Pfizer International HDL Research Award Committee.
He is the Chairman, Organizing Committee, 8th International Heme Oxygenases Conference, Sydney 2014, and Vice-President of the Swiss Australian Academic Network. His research interests are in redox processes in vascular health and disease, with a particular focus on the biological functions of heme oxygenase-1, the role of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase in the regulation of vascular tone and homeostasis, and the development of novel methods to determine and quantify reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in vitro and in vivo.
