Noriko Noguchi: Noriko Noguchi graduated from University of Tsukuba, Japan in 1981, and obtained her Master D in Anatomy from University of Tsukuba in 1983, and PhD in Legal Medicine from University of Tsukuba in 1987. She is a professor of Department of Medical Life Systems, Doshisha University. She is a member and a representative of the SFRR-Asia Committee, and is a director in the SFRR-Japan.
She serves as the Editor for Journal of OleoScience (the official journal of Japan Oil Chemist Society) and Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Nutrition (the official journal of SFRR-Japan). She obtained the Outstanding Paper Presentation Award from The American Oil Chemist Society in 1993, the Young Investigator Award from SFRRI in 1994, and the SFRR-Japan Award from SFRR-Japan in 2007.
Her research interests focus on the mechanisms of oxidative stress-caused diseases and prevention by antioxidant systems. She has been working on the mechanisms of free radical-mediated oxidation of low density lipoprotein and its inhibition by radical scavenging antioxidants. She is now interested in mechanisms of non apoptotic cell death induced by cholesterol oxidation products and its roles in neurodegenerative diseases.
